It’s summer and it will be a wonderful one. Two days ago I finally got a bike, I’m so very very very thrilled about this development and I have spent time actually reading up and attempting to educate myself on bike knowledge. Thus far I’m still fairly clueless.  I’ve gathered some information though, it’s a 80s model Schwinn Sprint, which is a fairly basic road bike, it was made in Taiwan by Giant and needs new tires. They’re literally falling apart, but the bike was only $35 dollars. I wish to obtain alloy rims to make it lighter because I’m quite certain that the rims on the bike are the originals. I wish Kansas City had a bike graveyard like Minneapolis. Maybe I just haven’t located it yet.

As always my life is ever changing and I recently lost one of my jobs. It was surprising but not all that tragic only because it wasn’t a refection of my work ethic it was just a change of ownership that resulted in them no longer needing me. Oh well. Chez Elle is attempting to compensate me for my lost hours there. I’m reading more and recently was lent a book titled Seven Types of Ambiguity by Elliot Perlman, it’s so well written that it’s painful. I want to write well.  Perhaps someday.

I work today and I work so late that I don’t even want to go in. What in the world is a 4-9p.m. shift anyway? Utterly pointless. I’ll end up making one or two drinks and scrubbing down the bar area for four hours until it is up to standard for opening tomorrow. So much free time and so very little to do. My errands are mail a letter and return a movie. If I lollygag it may take me 15 minutes. Maybe. I need to get the habit of making plans. I’m so freelance with my time that I end up either hanging out with people forever or just at home alone reading. Or at a coffee shop. Or spending my dwindling resources at Half Price on books that need to get in a line to be read. While in Minnesota a few weeks ago Erica gave me eight books to read. The tiny army of literature is lined up next to my bed. I finished Her Fearful Symmetry, such great potential with a horrible twist ending that made me wish I had never read it.

Finally I have decided which camera I want to own, this has been a journey. My choice is a Canon 50d EOS. The price tag for this camera is unfortunately high, but I was reminded of a connection to a friend that works at Best Buy and receives a sizable discount, wholesale + 5%.  Lucky, because I do not have $1300 for a camera right now. Not even close.  I could sell my two vintage SLR’s but I sort of love them. Even though I can’t seem to get the film to load properly in the Minolta. I did recently find a panoramic at a thrift store for a dollar. I want to have a collection of toy cams too. Finances are holding me hostage. Quintiles is looking more and more attractive lately, but I refuse to spend longer than a few days in the dungeon. I think it’s time to go frolic in the sunshine.
